RELIS stands for "Luxembourg Information Network on Drugs
and Drug additions 'Réseau Luxembourgeois d'Information sur les Stupéfiants
et les toxicomanies'.
Set up in 1994 and maintained by the Luxembourgish focal point of the EMCDDA,
RELIS is both, a human and telematic network.
Since 2000, the national EMCDDA focal point ( NFP ) is implemented within the
Public's Health Research Centre ( CRP - Santé ). The NFP links the competent
national administration to the EMCDDA.
European Monitoring Centre on Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA)
1. Mission
The European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction was set
up to provide the Community and its Member States with 'objective, reliable
and comparable information at European level concerning drugs and drug addiction
and their consequences'.
The statistical, documentary and technical information processed or produced
by the Centre helps to provide its audience with an overall picture of the drugs
phenomenon in Europe. The EMCDDA works exclusively in the field of information.
The EMCDDA's main tasks are:
* collecting and analysing existing data;
* improving data-comparison methods;
* disseminating data and information;
* co-operating with European Union institutions, international partners and
with non-EU countries.
2. Organization
The work of the EMCDDA extends beyond its headquarters in Lisbon to a network
of Focal Points set up in the 15 Member States and the European Commission.
Together these 16 information collection and exchange points form REITOX, the
European Information Network on Drugs and Drug Addiction.
In order to fulfill its mission the EMCDDA is supported by a human and telematic
network. The European Information Network on drugs and drug addiction REITOX
exchanges data on drugs in Europe. REITOX links the information systems of the
25 national EMCDDA focal points and other key partners.
